Abstract

The relevance of the study is determined by the increasing role of military-patriotic education under contemporary security challenges, the transformation of public consciousness, and the need to develop national identity and the defensive readiness of citizens of Ukraine. The aim of the article is to provide a theoretical substantiation of the socio-cultural prerequisites for the development of military-patriotic education in Ukraine during the period of state independence. Methods. The study applies methods of theoretical analysis and synthesis, generalization of scientific sources, historical and pedagogical methods, comparative analysis, and systematization of scientific approaches. Results. It has been proven that the development of military-patriotic education in Ukraine is conditioned by a complex of socio-cultural factors, among which the leading role is played by national and cultural revival, transformation of value orientations, actualization of historical memory, development of civil society, and modernization of the educational space. It has been established that these factors determine the content, forms, and directions of educational activity in the context of an independent state. Conclusions. It has been found that the formation of the modern system of military-patriotic education takes place under the combination of traditional and innovative approaches, the strengthening of state policy, and the influence of security challenges, which contributes to the development of defensive awareness and civic responsibility among young people. Socio-cultural prerequisites act as a determining factor in forming an integral model of military-patriotic education aimed at preparing a conscious citizen capable of active participation in public life and the defense of the state.
