Abstract

Purpose. The article analyzes contemporary approaches to national-patriotic education in Ukraine, highlights its role in the process of personality formation, and outlines the prospects for integrating Olympic values into this process. The study aims to substantiate the feasibility of using the educational potential of Olympism as an effective means of fostering patriotic consciousness, national dignity, and responsibility toward society and the state. Methods. The study employs theoretical methods, including the analysis of scientific literature and regulatory documents, generalization of pedagogical experience, comparison, and systematization of information. Logical analysis of the concepts and principles of patriotic education and Olympic values is also applied to substantiate their educational potential. Results. A comprehensive analysis of scientific approaches to defining the concept of “patriotic education” in the Ukrainian educational tradition and modern pedagogical discourse has been carried out. The evolution of the concept of “patriotism” in philosophical, historical, and pedagogical contexts is outlined. It has been established that patriotic education has a systemic and holistic nature and constitutes an integral component of the formation of national consciousness, civic position, and moral-ethical orientations of youth. Key regulatory documents (laws, decrees, strategies, concepts, and orders of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine) that form the legal framework for national-patriotic education are analyzed. It is substantiated that Olympic values – such as respect, solidarity, the pursuit of excellence, and integrity – are universal guidelines that contribute to personal development, as well as moral and civic formation. It is demonstrated that athletes, as carriers of patriotic ideals, can serve as positive role models in the educational environment. The educational mission of the modern Olympic movement harmoniously aligns with the goals of nationa education in Ukraine, opening new opportunities for pedagogical integration. Conclusions. It has been established that Olympic values have significant potential for application in the field of national-patriotic education of children and youth. Their integration with educational objectives contributes to the development of civic self-awareness, moral responsibility, and national identity. Further research in this area is promising for modernizing the educational component of the educational process in Ukraine and meets the need to form a generation of patriots capable of active participation in the development of a democratic society. Utilize syntactic constructions typical of scientific documents, steering clear of complex grammatical structures.
