Abstract

The aim of the article is to highlight the current aspects of humanizing the instructor’s personality within the educational process of a modern higher education institution. Methods. The study employs a complex of theoretical methods, including analysis, synthesis, comparison, and generalization, which ensured a systematic processing of scientific theories and concepts related to defining humanization as an integrated socio-cultural and socio-pedagogical phenomenon.

Results. The multidimensional nature of the concept of humanizing higher education is substantiated, and its axiological essence is revealed. Current aspects of humanizing the higher education instructor's personality are examined within the context of communicative issues, specifically through the transition from authoritarian influence to dialogic interaction. It is determined that under the conditions of contemporary socio-cultural and security challenges, humanization serves as an effective tool for preserving humanity, developing social cohesion, and supporting the psychological resilience of all participants in the educational process. It is proven that the successful implementation of a human-centric (person-centered) educational model directly depends on the internal culture of the instructor, as well as the actualization of their empathy, ethics, and capacity for partnership cooperation based on the principles of the pedagogy of success.

Conclusions The paper offers a systematic synthesis of the pedagogical dimensions of humanizing higher education, with particular attention to the instructor’s personal and professional capacities as a driving force in this process. Human‑centered education is conceptualized as a shift away from authoritarian, one‑directional teaching toward dialogic, subject‑to‑subject interaction and genuine partnership. The study outlines the core components of a supportive educational environment—psychological safety, inclusivity, critical inquiry, and a values‑based (axiological) orientation.

The analysis underscores the heightened importance of humanization within Ukrainian higher education during wartime, framing it as a means of safeguarding human dignity, strengthening social cohesion, and fostering psychological resilience. The findings indicate that the effectiveness of ongoing educational reforms is closely tied to the instructor’s internal culture—particularly empathy, ethical commitment, and reflective practice—as well as the adoption of pedagogies grounded in cooperation and student success.

The article concludes by identifying future research directions, especially the cultivation of instructors’ humanistic culture in the context of an increasingly digitalized educational environment.
