Information and communication technologies in the educational process of teaching geography

Abstract

Objective. The purpose of the article is to study information and communication technologies in the educational process of teaching geography. The following methods are used in the work: analysis, synthesis, generalisation, specification, modelling, cartographic. The results consider the peculiarities of using information and communication technologies to solve geographical problems and tasks, modelling natural and social phenomena and processes, analysing environmental problems; assessing the importance of geography for sustainable development, creating information products (multimedia presentations, blogs, etc.) natural, geographical and socio-geographical areas, forecasting the impact of geographical processes and patterns on the development of technologies, new areas of entrepreneurship; recording unique objects, phenomena and landscapes of the Earth, etc.

The conclusions emphasise that in the context of the digitalisation of Ukrainian society, there is a need to develop the skills and abilities of students to use modern information and communication technologies to solve their tasks. Progress in the development of the global economy is possible only if all industries are constantly improving on the basis of innovative technologies, the creator of which is a human being. In this aspect, education and training play a key role. Developing students' information and communication skills is important for searching, interpreting and demonstrating various geographical data and for developing students' key competences on this basis, performing actions acquired through the application of geographical knowledge and previous experience, and readiness for self-determination in professional activities.
