This paper presents the main theoretical provisions on the formation of national identity of students in the context of modern challenges. Within the framework of modern scientific discourse, the problem of national identity is complex and interdisciplinary, as it is studied in almost all areas of the social sciences and humanities.
On the basis of interdisciplinary analysis, the article outlines the theoretical foundations of national identity formation in modern realities.
The article emphasizes that the problem of national identity formation in the context of globalization, integration, social change, warfare and the crisis of values is gaining special significance and special meaning for the younger generation in Ukraine.
The article reveals the phenomenon of globalization as one of the challenges to society. Over the past decades, globalization has acquired the status of an irrefutable fact of our reality. It is emphasized that globalization is a process that destroys national borders, transforms national economies, cultures and technologies. Globalization poses a danger of losing national identity, national culture and originality.
As a result of russia's large-scale armed aggression, a new reality has emerged in Ukraine, which has increased the risk of losing national identity and the integrity of the state.
The article identifies the peculiarities of forming the national identity of student youth in the context of modern risks and challenges. It is noted that a comprehensive national identification and self-identification is formed and affirmed in a person consciously and is closely related to his or her beliefs and value orientations.
The difficulty in forming a national identity lies in the fact that it should cover the social, economic, political and cultural features of the unity of Ukrainians, represent their national space without restricting the right to spread other identities.
