Improvement of educational programs of the specialty Secondary education (Geography) as a factor of continuous professional development of future teachers of geography

Abstract

The article examines the relevance of improving educational programs of the specialty "Secondary Education (Geography)" in the context of ensuring continuous professional development of future geography teachers in higher education institutions. In particular, the author draws attention to changes in approaches to pedagogical training caused by modern challenges, such as globalization, digitalization, and innovative trends in the educational environment. The need for adaptation of educational programs for the formation of a set of professional competencies in students, which will allow them to work effectively in modern school conditions and adapt to dynamic changes in society, is substantiated. Special emphasis is placed on the implementation of innovative teaching methods, which should ensure the development of students' skills in critical thinking, analysis, self-study and research activities. The value of digital literacy for future geography teachers is highlighted separately, because the modern educational process is increasingly oriented towards the use of information and communication technologies. The development of these competencies will allow future teachers not only to improve the teaching process, but also to flexibly respond to new challenges and integrate digital tools into the educational process. The article also highlights the need for international cooperation and integration of the best global practices in the training of future geography teachers. This contributes to the improvement of the quality of education, as it provides access to the latest pedagogical approaches and methods. The author offers ways to modernize educational programs, which include not only the introduction of new technologies, but also project activities that allow students to get an education and put the acquired knowledge into practice. This contributes to the formation of their skills in solving real educational tasks, as well as the development of professional qualities necessary for successful pedagogical activity. Therefore, the improvement of educational programs in the specialty "Secondary Education (Geography)" becomes an important element of preparing future teachers for the challenges of the modern educational space. The proposed approaches and methods will contribute to the formation of the readiness of future teachers for continuous professional development, which is the key to their successful professional career in the conditions of the modern world.
