Public speaking: from oratory actions analysis to the speech effectiveness evaluation

The formation of a teacher as a professional speaker and the achievement of oratorical skills require him systematic oratory practice, reflect on the gained experience, achievement of oratorical activity effectiveness. In addition, the review and analysis of public speeches by speakers from the fields of education, science, business, and politics becomes an important component of speaker training. Highlighting the advantages of analyzing the professional speakers oratory experience, the authors note their strengths clarification, individual features of oratory activity, the oratorical style study, methods of working with the audience, the assessment of the impact on listeners through the speaker's own personality and the speech content.
The important role of reflection in the growth of the speaker is confirmed and presented through his understanding of his own oratorical actions, feedback from the audience, evaluation of the speech effectiveness, its impact on the listeners and the speech effect. In particular, the last one is determined by the power of the speaker's influence on the audience, his actions and proceedings, changes in behavior, thoughts, beliefs, transformational changes in personal and professional development.
The influence of “WHAT” and “HOW” in a public speaking on its effectiveness is noted. The original speech content, which synthesizes knowledge from various fields, and the successful form of its presentation implement the main information highway, strategy and tactics of the speech.
The criteria for public speech analyzing and the effectiveness of the speaker's actions evaluating are singled out, namely: the speech informativeness; the performance compositional integrity; the persuasiveness of the speech; congruence of the speaker's verbal and non-verbal speech; the speaker and audience interaction; listeners' attention management; audience reactions; speaker creativity; material possession; the quality of the speaker's answers to the audience's questions; speech content visualization quality; avoiding the pitfalls in public speaking; the goal achievement, the effect of the speaking, the listeners after-effects; strengths and weaknesses of speech; speaker satisfaction.
