Abstract

Motivation is a key condition for achieving high performance in sports activities, as it affects athletes’ commitment, perseverance and efficiency during training and competition. To ensure sustainable progress in developing sports skills, it is important to develop strategies that help maintain motivation at all stages of training. The study is devoted to analysing motivation as a crucial factor of success in sports activities. The purpose of the study was to theoretically substantiate the importance of motivation in achieving high sports results, forming psychological resilience and developing a model of motivational support for athletes. The study used methods of analysis and interpretation of scientific sources, generalisation of theoretical and empirical studies, and modelling of the process of motivation development.

The results show that motivation plays a key role in the formation of perseverance, self-discipline, emotional control, and performance of athletes during training and competition. Successful athletes have a high level of intrinsic motivation, which ensures resilience to difficulties, promotes the development of physical and psychological qualities, and supports the desire to improve.Individualised approaches to motivation have been developed that include intrinsic incentives, such as enjoyment of the training process, and external factors, such as coaching support and recognition of results.

The analysis also showed that motivation is a dynamic process involving psychological and social factors. A balanced approach to motivation that takes into account athletes’ personal characteristics is a prerequisite for long-term success. The study’s findings highlight the importance of developing effective motivational programmes that will improve athletic performance, stress resistance, and emotional stability.

Prospects for further research include an experimental study of the impact of motivational strategies on sports performance. The data obtained can become the basis for improving training methods in various sports.
