Readiness of Future Officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for International Communication: Essence and Structure

Abstract

The article provides a theoretical substantiation of the essence and structure of future officers’ readiness of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for international communication in professional activities.

Objective. The objective of the study is to define the conceptual foundations of readiness for international communication and to develop a structural model that integrates linguistic, intercultural, communicative, and operational components necessary for successful interaction in a multinational environment.

Methods. The research methodology includes the analysis of regulatory documents in military education, critical analysis of scientific sources on intercultural communication, professional training, and military pedagogy, system-structural analysis of competence models, and comparative analysis of international approaches to officer training.

Results. The study establishes that readiness for international communication is an integrative, dynamic personal quality encompassing cognitive-linguistic, operational-activity, motivational-value, and reflective-evaluative components. The content, functional purpose, evaluation criteria, and indicators for each component are identified. The developed model is correlated with the provisions of international models such as Intercultural Communicative Competence (ICC), Cross-Cultural Competence (3C), and Military Cross-Cultural Competence (M3C), ensuring its compatibility with the requirements for modern officer training.

Conclusions. The formulated theoretical and methodological framework provides a basis for improving the system of professional education of Ukrainian Armed Forces officers. The proposed model aligns with both national regulatory requirements and international standards, and can be applied to the development of training programs, diagnostic instruments, and methodological recommendations for fostering future officers’ readiness for international communication in multinational security environments.
