Features of european educational methods for primary school students: prospects for the ukrainian school

Abstract

The article examines the specifics of European educational methodologies for younger students and the prospects for their implementation within the Ukrainian educational system, which is highly relevant in the context of current educational reforms. The study aims to examine and substantiate the potential for applying effective educational approaches used in EU countries to foster foundational competencies, critical thinking, emotional literacy, and communication and social skills among Ukrainian students. The primary focus is on analyzing pedagogical techniques successfully applied by European educators, including project-based learning, thematic integrated lessons, interactive games, and collaborative tasks, which encourage active student participation in the learning process and create a conducive environment for personal development. To achieve the study’s objectives, comparative analysis and pedagogical modeling methods were employed. The comparative analysis method allowed for the identification of common and distinctive features of educational approaches within European systems, as well as the values that promote the development of crucial student qualities such as responsibility, empathy, and independence. Pedagogical modeling enabled the adaptation of European educational techniques to the cultural and socio-economic realities of Ukrainian education, identifying the most suitable learning and educational approaches for implementation in the New Ukrainian School. The study's findings suggest that integrating European educational methodologies can significantly enhance motivation, foster a creative approach, and support the social engagement of young students in Ukraine. Specifically, project-based learning and integrated lessons help students better absorb educational material, create conditions for active engagement in the learning process, and cultivate skills in interaction and collaboration. The conclusions of the article underscore the importance of integrating these innovative practices into Ukraine’s primary education system to create a supportive educational environment that fosters students' holistic development and prepares them for life in a modern society.
