Professionalism and amateurism in modern Olympic sports are important aspects affecting its development, organization and values. The Olympic movement was historically formed on the basis of the principles of amateurism, but over time professionalism became the dominant phenomenon, which contributed to a change in the nature of the competition. Objective: to explore the current state of professionalism and amateurism in Olympic sports, identify key trends, challenges and consequences of mixing these approaches. Results: the topic of professionalism and amateurism in modern Olympic sports is relevant due to the changes that have taken place in recent decades. Since the beginning of the Olympic Games, the main idea was the competition of amateurs, but modern realities have significantly transformed this concept. Conclusions. Professionalism and amateurism in modern Olympic sports are in a state of balance between tradition and modernity. The main challenge remains maintaining the integrity of the competition and creating equal conditions for all participants.
