Abstract

The purpose of this study is to develop research competence in higher education students when choosing web development tools that allow them to ensure cross-browser compatibility of web resources. As part of this work, an analysis of modern tools used to test the compatibility of web resources with different browsers and platforms was conducted. The effectiveness of these tools was assessed when used in the educational process of training students. Among the research methods used was a theoretical analysis of scientific works devoted to the study of such tools as Selenium and Cypress. In the experiment, students' skills were assessed before and after using the proposed tools. This allowed obtaining objective data for analyzing the effectiveness of the proposed approaches. As a result, it was found that after completing the course, more than 80% of students were able to independently identify and correct compatibility and adaptability errors in the web projects they developed. This indicates an improvement in the level of their training in ensuring cross-browser compatibility. Additionally, it should be noted that the introduction and integration of modern testing tools into the educational process forms in students the skills to make informed decisions regarding the choice of optimization methods. All the above indicates the need to include practical work on cross-browser testing in the curricula of web development disciplines to improve the quality of training of web development specialists, as well as the general level of student competence.
