Independent educational activity as a pedagogical category

Abstract

The publication determines that independent educational activity performs an important role in ensuring the acquisition of certain knowledge, skills by applicants for education, and the development of independence and purposefulness in each individual.

As it is found out in the study, scientists interpret the concept of "independent educational activity" ambiguously. Therefore, to conduct a study of the problem of organizing this activity in higher education, there is a need to clarify the author's point of view regarding the disclosure of the essence of this concept. The purpose of the article is to clarify the author's definition of the concept of "independent educational activity" based on the analysis of scientific literature.

As it is established, supporters of the first allocated scientific position interpret the specified concept as a special form of educational activity directed at the formation of knowledge, skills, skills of applicants for education. Supporters of another highlighted position perceive the above concept as a type of educational activity performed by applicants for education under the methodological guidance of the teacher, but without his direct intervention.

According to the conclusions of the supporters of the third position, independent educational activity should be perceived as a means of learning, a means of ensuring the acquisition of educational material submitted by applicants. According to the fourth position of scientists, independent learning activity is a method of learning that provides the formation of knowledge, skills, skills of applicants for education, as well as the development of creative abilities of a person, the activation of his mental activity, the formation of the need for continuous learning throughout life.

Taking into account the different points of view of scientists, it is determined that in the context of research under independent educational activities we understand the form of organization of training, methodically directed by the teacher to the formation of certain knowledge, skills, competencies in applicants for education, and educational activities are performed by them independently.
