Career orientation of students of vocational (vocational and technical) education institutions as a response to the demands of the modern labor market

Abstract

The issue of career orientation in the conditions of the modern labor market is becoming increasingly important. This problem is especially relevant for students of vocational (vocational and technical) education institutions, whose role for the country's economy is extremely important. Currently, there is a qualification gap in the labor market caused by the mismatch of the training of future qualified workers with the needs of employers. One of the reasons for this mismatch is the low level of career skills formation. The purpose of the article: to analyze the features of the career orientation of students of vocational (vocational and technical) education institutions in accordance with the requirements of the modern labor market. The following methods were used during the study: theoretical - analysis, synthesis, deduction, comparison, generalization; empirical - oral and written survey, the method of independent expert assessments. Results: an analysis of regulatory documents on career counseling in vocational (vocational and technical) education institutions was carried out; the definition of the concepts of "career", "career orientation", "career counseling" is presented; the relationship between the career orientation of education seekers and their adaptation to labor market conditions is clarified; the role of career centers in career counseling of education seekers is determined. Conclusions. Career orientation is one of the key skills in demand on the labor market. Its formation and development is given considerable attention in institutions of vocational (vocational and technical) education. Most educational institutions today have career counseling centers in their structure, the purpose of which is to form knowledge, skills and abilities in career growth. One of the conditions for the success of career orientation is cooperation with employers, business representatives, which will ensure the quality of professional training of future workers.
