The control and evaluation skills are the motivational basis for demonstrating the competencies based on the situation, choosing the course of action for solving the situation, evaluating the achieved result and setting the goas for further actions. The objective of this research is to identify and describe the didactic requirements for student’s textbook, which are the mean for the formation of control and evaluation skills of students within the competency-oriented educational framework. The abovementioned objective is achieved through the following theoretical research methods: analysis and generalization of the scientific studies on the topic, definition of control and evaluation skills, identification of the didactic requirements for school textbooks within the context of gaining the abovementioned skills, substantiating the didactic requirements by aligning them with the textbook’s structural components. The obtained results of the research present school text book as a model of educational process, which provides the methodical system for a teacher, the activity system for a student and the content which determines the interaction between both participants of the educational process. The didactic requirements are outlined accordingly in relation to the content of educational material, educational principles, methods and organizational forms of educational activities. This is reflected in the structural components of a textbook: in the content of educational item, which is learned and mastered through gaining educational experience and knowledge how to use a text book. The primacy of managerial function of the textbook and its focus on activating prospective, current and retrospective control and evaluation skills are considered during the determination of the didactic requirements. The attention is focused on an educational task as a basic activity-content unit, which triggers control and evaluation actions and on a system of educational tasks, the interconnection of which ensures the gradual formation of the intellectual actions and thus control and evaluation skills as well. The conclusions state that the textbook within the competency oriented framework, should help students with the self-organization of learning. Such functionality of the textbook is ensured by compliance with the outlined didactic requirements for the educational tasks system, which implies the performance of the control and evaluation actions. The manifestation of the control and evaluation skills regulates the subjectivity of students and allows them to successfully achieve their educational goals.
