Abstract

Today, the concept of lifelong learning is a key concept in educational policy at both national and international levels. According to international law, the purpose of education is to broaden the human personality and build self-esteem, enabling everyone to live in a free society. The concept of education as a lifelong process is essential to the realization of the right to education. Lifelong learning is crucial to meet challenges and difficulties. The professionalism of an air traffic controller is not just a set of knowledge and skills, but rather a vital quality that determines flight safety. With aviation constantly evolving, the need to continuously improve professional competence is becoming increasingly important. The Purpose of this article is to analyze the descriptors of the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation) scale that demonstrate the English language proficiency requirements for air traffic controllers. Insufficient competence can lead to critical problems that negatively affect air traffic safety. To avoid this, air traffic controllers will maintain their English language proficiency and obtain an air traffic control license. Successful completion of the test is guaranteed by ongoing continuing education. Methods of scientific literature analysis, generalization, systematization and comparison are used in this article. The results of the study demonstrate the importance of continuing education in the context of air traffic controllers. This allows them to remain competitive in the job market and achieve better results in their professional activities. The description and analysis of the ICAO scale descriptors indicates high requirements for passing the test, which proves the need for ongoing development. Conclusion. International standards in the aviation community require a high level of English language proficiency, procedure execution, and the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for the professional performance of air traffic controllers. Improving the competence of their work is not only about performing technical procedures during work, but also about a fundamental knowledge of the English language.
