The article examines the theoretical underpinnings of the formation of health-preserving competence among future teachers, highlighting its significance in the context of contemporary educational challenges. Competency-based education is identified as a central paradigm, emphasizing the integration of theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for maintaining a healthy lifestyle and fostering the same in students. The study delves into the specifics of professional training for future educators, underlining the importance of health preservation as a key component of their professional development. A comprehensive analysis of modern educational reforms in Ukraine, particularly the principles and regulatory frameworks underpinning the New Ukrainian School (NUS), forms a critical part of the discussion. The article evaluates the alignment between these reforms and the goals of developing health-preserving competencies, identifying gaps and opportunities within the existing system. Special attention is given to the challenges posed by the evolving educational landscape and the need for innovative approaches to teacher training that support the holistic development of students. On the basis of the theoretical analysis, practical recommendations are proposed for enhancing the health-preserving competence of future teachers. These recommendations are aimed at aligning teacher education programs with the principles of the NUS, fostering a culture of health consciousness, and equipping educators with tools to effectively integrate health-preserving practices into their teaching. The proposed measures emphasize the need for a systematic approach that incorporates modern pedagogical strategies, intersectoral cooperation, and a focus on lifelong learning. This study contributes to the broader discourse on educational reform in Ukraine, providing insights into the critical role of teacher competence in shaping a healthy, informed, and proactive younger generation.
