Abstract

Mastering a large amount of biomedical terminology is one of the key challenges in teaching medical students. Therefore, finding innovative approaches that improve the quality of learning and memorization of biomedical terminology is crucial. The article aims to investigate the effectiveness of the morpheme approach to learning biomedical terminology to improve the quality of medical students learning. The article analyzes the theoretical foundations of the morpheme approach and its practical application, considering the impact of visualization, interval repetition, and virtual laboratories and simulations. We used analysis and synthesis, morphemic analysis, integrative approach, deduction, and generalization to achieve this goal. The effectiveness of the morphemic approach to memorizing biomedical terminology is analyzed. The general advantages of this method are considered. A list of Latin and Greek morphemes (prefixes, suffixes, roots) is given, which allows medical students to navigate a large amount of medical and biological terminology quickly and significantly improves memorization. The influence of visualization and interval repetition on learning biomedical terminology was evaluated. It is determined that using visual resources and the method of interval repetition in combination with morphemic analysis affects the effectiveness of memorizing biomedical terms. The role of virtual laboratories and simulations in applying morphemic knowledge is studied. It analyzes how using virtual laboratories and simulations helps students apply their knowledge of morphemes to understand complex medical processes and phenomena. Specific examples of using virtual tools for studying histology, cytology, and embryology are given. The positive impact of the morpheme approach in studying biology and chemistry and preparing for medical school is determined by highlighting its advantages. Thus, it is essential to integrate the morphemic approach with other teaching methods. The morpheme approach can be an effective tool, but it is not the only solution to the problem of learning biological and medical terminology. It is necessary to consider students' individual characteristics and use different teaching methods to achieve optimal results.
