Abstract

It is substantiated that one of the priority approaches to learning in the modern educational process is a competency-based approach aimed at the formation and development of a personality who is ready for successful self-realization in life. It is emphasized that the implementation of a competency-based approach in both general secondary and higher and postgraduate education ensures the development of general and special (specialized / professional) competencies, which also guarantees a high level of professional and social activity. The role of health-preserving competence in the professional activity of a teacher, as well as in the educational process in general, is clarified. Attention is drawn to the fact that the key organizer and implementer of educational activity is a teacher, so it is obvious that the level of his professional competence affects the process of acquiring key competencies by students. The author's definition of health-preserving competence and ways of its development through the use of health-preserving technologies are proposed. The following main components of the studied teacher's competence are identified: 1) physical health; 2) mental / psycho-emotional / spiritual health; 3) social health. The unity and interdependence of these components are emphasized and it is noted that they form a holistic system, where each element supports the others, ensuring the harmonious functioning of the body and psyche. It is concluded that the formation and development of the teacher's health-preserving competence is a priority direction of the modern educational process, because only a healthy and competent teacher / lecturer / andragog is able, first of all, to comprehensively take care of preserving and supporting the health of his pupils, and then to make maximum efforts and professional skills to master them (pupils / students / adults) a system of theoretical knowledge and practical skills. A teacher who has clearly developed health-preserving competence can ensure the emotional and psychological well-being of students, which combines supporting their motivation and developing stress resistance.
