Abstract

The development of educational programs aimed at fostering social integration and strengthening civic identity is a crucial aspect of Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction. The war has led to significant social fragmentation, mass displacement, and psychological trauma, creating substantial challenges for national unity and democratic resilience. The relevance of this study lies in the necessity of restoring social cohesion by equipping individuals with the knowledge, skills, and values essential for active citizenship, mutual understanding, and reintegration into a rapidly changing society. Education serves as a powerful tool for addressing these challenges by promoting critical thinking, historical awareness, and a sense of collective responsibility. However, existing educational frameworks often fail to consider the unique needs of war-affected populations, particularly internally displaced persons, veterans, and youth, highlighting the need for innovative and inclusive approaches. The purpose of this study is to explore effective strategies for developing and implementing educational programs that support social integration and the formation of civic identity in post-war Ukraine. Methods: analysis of scientific literature, generalization, and systematization. Results. The study examines interdisciplinary approaches that combine social and psychological support, civic education, and participatory learning to build resilience and create a common national consciousness. The results indicate that successful educational initiatives should be adapted to different social processes, emphasizing community participation, historical truth, and democratic interaction, and that interactive learning methods, such as dialogue-based education, history writing, and local community projects, significantly increase civic awareness and social cohesion. At the same time, the cooperation of government agencies with civil society organizations and international partners is essential to ensure the effectiveness and sustainability of these programs. Conclusions. The study found that the integration of social and civic education into formal and non-formal educational environments is important for restoring trust in social institutions, strengthening national identity, and promoting a culture of democratic engagement. The implementation of inclusive and contextually-oriented educational initiatives in Ukraine is the key to successful long-term social stability and national unity in the post-war period.
