The research-based approach to the ukrainian language lessons in primary school: essence and ways of realization

The author of the article has raised the problem of a research approach to Ukrainian language lessons in primary school. At the stage of primary general education, it is important to create conditions for the development of research activity, critical thinking, and independence in students' decision-making. The purpose of the article is to find out the essence and ways of implementing the research approach to teaching the Ukrainian language in primary school. Methods: analysis and synthesis, comparison and generalization. Results of the research. On the basis of a thorough analysis and generalization of scientific positions, the essence of the concepts of “approach to learning” and “research approach to language teaching” has been clarified. It has been found that among the modern approaches to designing and conducting Ukrainian language lessons, it is important to take into account the personality-oriented, competence-based, communicative and research approach, which is based on the active cognitive activity of students in the study of linguistic phenomena and literary texts to solve educational tasks. It has been established that the research approach to Ukrainian language lessons should be introduced step by step and gradually; during the adaptation and gaming stage of primary school students' education (grades 1-2), it is necessary, first of all, to form a key skill in students - the ability to learn, to show students examples of reasoning and ways to solve problematic questions or research tasks, to form research skills. It has been found that the development of students' research skills is a complex, gradual and long process. Ukrainian language lessons should be designed as an extended educational and research activity based on partnership, in which the teacher, in cooperation with students, sets and solves search and research learning tasks at all its stages. In case of implementing a research approach to Ukrainian language lessons, students gradually master a set of different research skills through educational and research activities, in particular, through the study of linguistic phenomena, informational media texts or literary texts. The article also considers the pedagogical conditions for ensuring a research approach to Ukrainian language lessons in primary school. Conclusions. In conclusion, the research approach is an effective way of organizing Ukrainian language teaching, which allows to develop cognitive interests, creative abilities of students, improve their communication skills, develop the ability to think critically and make informed decisions. Successful implementation of the research approach depends primarily on the readiness of primary school teachers to implement the technology of research-based learning at Ukrainian language lessons.
