Abstract

The relevance of the study is stipulated by the need to modernize the firearms training system of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in accordance with NATO standards, which is an important component of the transformation of the Ukrainian army in the context of modern armed conflicts. The introduction of effective training methods based on the best practices of North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) member states will help to increase the combat effectiveness of military units, which is critical to ensuring Ukraine’s defense capability. The purpose of the study is to analyze NATO standards in the field of firearms training, assess the state of their implementation in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and identify the main challenges and prospects for adapting these standards in the national military education and training system. The research methods include analysis of NATO and Ukrainian regulations, comparative analysis of approaches to combat training in NATO member states. The methods of systematic analysis, synthesis and generalization were used to identify the main trends and problems in this area. The results of the study indicate the gradual implementation of NATO standards in the firearms training of the Ukrainian military, which is reflected in the modernization of educational programs, the use of integrated simulation technologies and the increase in the level of combat coordination of units. However, this process is accompanied by significant challenges. One of the main obstacles is insufficient technical support, including a limited number of modern shooting simulators, insufficient automated shooting analysis systems, and a lack of properly equipped training grounds that meet NATO requirements. In addition, there is an urgent need to train qualified instructors capable of effectively implementing educational programs in accordance with NATO standards. The conclusions emphasize the need to expand cooperation with NATO countries through joint exercises and training missions. Prospects for further research are related to the improvement of combat training methods using modern technologies, in particular digital simulators, the development of mechanisms to improve the effectiveness of instructor training and the adaptation of NATO standards to the conditions of combat operations in Ukraine.
