Application of Internet Resources for Developing Listening Skills in Future Doctors in Professionally Oriented Foreign Language Classes

In the modern world, knowledge of a foreign language is becoming a necessity for representatives of the medical profession, because a doctor who speaks a foreign language has much wider opportunities both in professional growth and in providing quality care to patients. Internet resources are an accessible, flexible and effective learning tool, so they are actively applied in the higher education system, opening up new opportunities for applicants, including formation of listening skills as an integral component of foreign language communicative competence. The purpose of the study is to characterize and provide a methodology for using Internet resources to form listening skills of future doctors at foreign language for specific purpose lessons . Methods. The study used a comprehensive approach that includes theoretical and empirical methods. In particular, an analysis of scientific and methodological literature was carried out to identify relevant methods of using Internet resources to develop listening skills at foreign language for specific purpose lessons. Results. In the process of the study, the authors explained the concept of “listening skills” that is basic for the conducted study. The main principles of developing listening skills are provided, namely: systematicity and consistency of educational material; authenticity and contextuality of audio information; gradual complication of language material; involvement of various channels of perception (multimodality). The advantages of using Internet resources in the process of teaching a foreign language for specific purposs are characterized, including: authenticity of materials; variety of formats; flexibility and accessibility; motivational aspect; interactivity. The main Internet resources that contribute to the development of listening skills are identified, which include: video hosting; platforms for learning languages; podcasts and audio platforms; online courses and platforms with interactive exercises. The author's exercises for working with Internet resources aimed at developing listening skills of future doctors is detailed step by step. Conclusions. Thus, the use of Internet resources at foreign language for specific purpose classes allows not only to effectively form listening skills of future doctors, but also contributes to the general improvement of foreign language competence of applicants and forms media literacy. Further research in this area should be aimed at developing author's methods for using Internet resources at foreign language for specific purpose classes.
