The article addresses the issue of the effectiveness of using educational multimedia programs and modern communicative technologies—such as blog technologies, podcasts, and various forms of active and passive linguistic research—as important tools in the process of teaching the course “Modern English” in a distance learning format. It is analyzed that these tools include not only advanced technical capabilities integrated into the educational process but also innovative forms and methods of teaching, as well as a new approach to the learning process itself.
The results of such methods for developing components of students’ foreign language communicative competence are examined, offering an alternative to traditional paper-based learning tools. It is analyzed that the educational process in higher education institutions should incorporate recently recommended communicative technologies. The necessity of careful consideration and scientific justification for implementing such communicative technologies in the educational environment is emphasized. At the same time, pedagogical techniques are viewed as a significant type of pedagogical communication, creating optimal interactive conditions for students’ self-determination and further professional self-identification.
It is noted that modern foreign language teaching methodology, particularly in English, involves not only an educational component but also contributes to the formation and development of students’ foreign language communicative competence.
It has been proven that the use of multimedia and other electronic learning tools in a distance learning format enhances the development of communicative competence and stimulates students’ intrinsic motivation to learn a foreign language, which is overall one of the most important factors in the success of the entire educational process. An attempt is made to broaden the current scope of analysis regarding innovative processes in pedagogical methods of the educational process, which will undoubtedly contribute to creating favorable conditions for the active and free development of the future specialist’s and citizen’s personality.
