Working with Academic Text in the Aspect of Forming the Language Consciousness of Future Civil Servants

The formation of the language consciousness of future civil servants takes place at all levels of the development of the language and speech culture of a representative of public professions, in particular through learning to work with academic texts. The importance of competences in creating a scientific text affects the level of representation of a civil servant in the professional environment, in particular in the scientific sphere, which makes it possible to influence the audience of the academic community. The purpose of the article. To analyse the stylistic and structural features of an academic text; to identify the main mistakes of a scientific text at different language levels; to actualise the role of academic integrity of future civil servants in terms of authorship of scientific texts and language consciousness. Methods. To achieve this goal, a comprehensive analysis of scientific research on the peculiarities and methods of creating a scientific text, the practice of teaching the discipline «Academic Writing» in higher education, and the problem of academic integrity was carried out; the main violations of the language norm in academic texts were analysed and identified at different language levels (lexical, morphological and syntactic). Results. Academic texts are presented as a special kind of stylistic self-expression of the author, which will allow him/her to be accepted into the scientific environment, to carry out scientific communication, to present the results of his/her own scientific research. The stylistic features of a scientific text require that authors representing public professions pay attention to the rules of creating an academic text, and the value of scientific recognition and authority in the public space requires compliance with the rules of academic integrity. Results.
