The current environmental challenges caused by climate change, environmental pollution, depletion of natural resources and other crisis phenomena require a qualitative update of the content and organisation of the educational process, taking into account the principles of sustainable development. Education should not only impart knowledge, but also foster a responsible attitude to nature, develop environmental awareness and practical skills of environmentally appropriate behaviour. In this context, an important task is to integrate environmental education into academic disciplines, including technology. It is the training of future technology teachers that plays a key role in introducing environmental knowledge into school practice, which contributes to the formation of the environmental culture of the younger generation and awareness of responsibility for the environment. It is important that this knowledge becomes part of the personal beliefs and professional orientations of students of pedagogical specialities, who should educate young people in the spirit of caring for nature.
The purpose of this study is to develop and implement effective methodological approaches to the greening of technological education in higher education. To achieve this goal, a set of methods was used, including theoretical analysis of scientific sources, comparative analysis of existing educational programmes, questionnaires of students of pedagogical specialities on the level of their environmental competence, as well as experimental implementation of integration methods in the educational process.
The results of the study showed that the use of project activities, STEM-oriented tasks, an interdisciplinary approach, and interactive forms of learning significantly increases the level of environmental literacy and professional readiness of future technology teachers. The proposed methodological recommendations can be effectively used in pedagogical institutions to modernise the educational process and form a generation of environmentally responsible, socially conscious and pedagogically creative professionals who are able to act responsibly, think systematically and teach students environmental values.
