Abstract

The article substantiates the role of computer design as an innovative didactic tool in developing the ICT competence of future vocational education teachers under the conditions of education digitalization. The aim of the study is to define the content-related characteristics of ICT competence, reveal the potential of computer design in cultivating key digital skills among educators, and summarize the opportunities for its integration into the educational process.

To achieve this goal, a set of theoretical methods was employed, including analysis and synthesis of pedagogical literature, comparative analysis of approaches to the definition of ICT competence, systematization of empirical observations in educational practice, generalization of pedagogical experience, and modeling of didactic situations involving computer design elements. The methodological foundation of the research is based on the principles of the competence-based approach, digital transformation of education, and learner-centered pedagogy.

The study found that ICT competence of future vocational education teachers is viewed by scholars as an integrative construct encompassing knowledge, skills, abilities, value orientations, and the capacity to effectively apply information and communication technologies in professional practice. The article highlights the relevance of computer design as a didactic tool that promotes the development of such critical components of ICT competence as critical thinking, creativity, information literacy, visual communication, and the ability to analyze and interpret digital content. The paper examines the potential of various types of computer design (UI design, AI design, graphic, visual) for integration into the educational process. Practical tasks aimed at embedding computer design into the structure of professional teacher training are proposed.

Computer design, as a didactic medium, possesses significant potential for enhancing the ICT competence of future vocational education teachers. Its application supports the implementation of innovative educational approaches, stimulates digital engagement, fosters visual culture, and encourages learners' sense of informational responsibility. The development of ICT competence through design-oriented practices ensures a high level of readiness among future educators to utilize digital technologies in their professional activities and to pursue continuous self-development within the digital society.
