Problems and prospects of physical education in Ukrainian schools: analysis of the current state and directions of development

Abstract

Today, the relevance of the problems and prospects of physical education in Ukrainian schools is determined not only by the general focus on ensuring the health and physical development of students, but also by addressing the current challenges associated with a decrease in physical activity among the younger generation. The analysis of the current state and consideration of the directions of physical education development makes it possible to determine the optimal strategies for adapting the educational system to the requirements of modern reality and educating physically healthy and active youth.

The purpose of the study is to consider the current state of physical education in Ukrainian schools, as well as to determine the directions of its further development in the context of the war in Ukraine.

Methods. The study used general scientific methods of cognition, including a critical analysis of the available scientific literature on physical education in modern Ukrainian schools, the organization of data related to the systematization of physical education components, as well as methods of induction and deduction.

Results. The study determined that the current state of physical education in Ukrainian schools is characterized by a number of problems, such as: organizational difficulties related to ensuring safety during physical activities and limited access to sports infrastructure due to the military conflict, limited access to sports facilities due to the loss of access to sports grounds in the war zone, the psychological impact of the war, which threatens the psychological well-being of students and teachers, the lack of high-speed Internet access, and the lack of a The study notes that further directions for the development of physical education should focus on the development of the spectrum of physical activity, the use of innovative technologies, teacher training, further individualization of the approach, and active involvement in sports competitions.

Conclusions. Further research can expand the understanding of the problems and prospects of physical education in Ukrainian schools, focusing on innovative methods adapted to difficult conditions.
