Abstract

The training of future land surveyors is becoming increasingly important for modern society, as it is these specialists who provide the data required for infrastructure, construction, navigation, environmental and climate protection, and property management. The purpose of the study is to analyse the experience of German higher education institutions that train future land surveyors, with a focus on the content of the relevant educational programmes. Methods. A systems-theoretical analysis and synthesis of the scientific literature, drawing on practical examples, was employed to examine the existing body of work on the research topic, whilst generalisations were used to present the research findings and draw conclusions. Results. This study analyses the educational programmes offered by universities in the Federal Republic of Germany that train specialists in land management, geodesy and related disciplines. It examines the content components of the educational programmes offered by German universities for the training of future land management professionals. It has been established that German higher education institutions combine their land management programmes with a focus on surveying with other directions (geoinformatics, navigation, geodata collection, geomedia technologies, etc.). It has been established that these cover a wide range of courses and modules. Unique training programmes for future land surveyors, including bilingual ones, have been identified. It has been noted that it would be beneficial for domestic universities to use elements of the experience of German higher education institutions in their own practice. Conclusions.  It has been established that educational programmes for training future land surveyors at German universities are designed with the professional profiles of these specialists in view. Fundamental scientific research and the traditional higher education system in land management are centred on universities, whilst applied vocational education is concentrated in specialist higher education institutions for land management. Applying the positive experience of German educational institutions in Ukraine will help to enhance the competitiveness of Ukrainian specialists in the field of land management.
