Abstract

The study of the selected problem is extremely important for the field of sports, as it is aimed at the effective realization of the potential of athletes after the end of their sports career, which will ensure a smooth transition to a new stage of life, contributing to personal professional growth. The search for ways to use the experience of athletes on the one hand and, on the other hand, to provide them with the opportunity to acquire new social roles and realize themselves in other areas of life is one of the most important issues facing athletes and requires scientific substantiation. The study aims to study the interaction and influence of social and psychological adaptation of ex-athletes. The article uses the monographic method, system analysis and system approach, modeling, and generalization. According to the study's results, it was determined that the social and psychological adaptation of ex-athletes should consider the interaction of various factors and their impact on the adaptation process. The article develops a theoretical model of socio-psychological adaptation. The key factors (personal characteristics, social environment, level of preparation for the end of a career, financial support, health status, cultural context) that influence the adaptation of athletes after the end of their sports career are identified. The relationship between social and psychological aspects of adaptation is analyzed. The influence of social factors on psychological well-being and vice versa is revealed. Successful social and psychological adaptation cases after the end of a sports career are analyzed using the example of famous professional athletes. The relationship between socio-psychological adaptation and such areas of ex-athletes lives as family relationships, education, and social activities is investigated. Recommendations for improving social policy on practical social and psychological adaptation are developed. Thus, the study can help ex-athletes better understand the adaptation process and plan their future, considering potential difficulties and opportunities. The study results have significant practical value for various groups: ex-athletes, coaches and sports organizations, and social policymakers.
