Features of the formation of professional competence of computer science specialists

The article is devoted to highlighting the peculiarities of forming the professional competence of computer science specialists in a higher education institution. A review and analysis of scientific sources on the research problems is carried out, namely: scientific works on the study of the main approaches to the formation of professional competence of computer science specialists; works on determining the structure and content of professional competence of computer science specialists; content approaches to the training of computer science specialists, etc.
The key definitions for the study are considered, namely: ‘competence’ and “professional competence” of a future computer science specialist.
During the analysis of sources, the educational standard of the specialty 122 ‘Computer Science’ for the first (bachelor's) level of higher education was also considered, where competencies are divided into integral, general and special (professional) competencies.
The formation of the professional competence of computer science specialists determines the availability of knowledge of the basic principles of theories; understanding of trends in the development of innovative technologies, legal and ethnic aspects in the field of information technology; skills in working with modern technologies and tools, communication and teamwork; ability to self-organisation and self-education.
The features of the formation of professional competence of computer science specialists in a higher education institution are highlighted. The methods used in the study and coverage of the main research questions are also described, namely: the method of system analysis; comparison and generalisation; bibliosemantic and empirical methods.
On the example of the discipline ‘Algorithms and Data Structures’, which is the basis for acquiring professional competencies, as well as the basis of their professional training, the possibilities of future specialists in computer science, which they can use on the way to mastering their specialisation, are presented, an example of a practical task in the discipline ‘Algorithms and Data Structures’ is given, where the condition of the task, its algorithm, result, as well as the program code for the implementation of this practical task are presented.
