Abstract

The article is devoted to studying the use of an integral approach to learning a foreign language in a professional direction. The concept of an integral approach to learning a foreign language is defined; the concept of an integral approach, according to Ukrainian and foreign scientists, is analyzed. Considerable attention is paid to recommendations regarding the practical implementation of this approach in the educational process of non-linguistic higher education institutions of Ukraine. It is demonstrated that using an integral method in learning a foreign language contributes to increasing motivation among students and mastering new professional skills and communication skills in a foreign language on professional topics.

The article aims to define the concept of an integral approach to learning a professionally oriented foreign language and theoretically substantiate the feasibility and effectiveness of using this method for students of educational programs of a non-linguistic direction in Ukrainian higher education institutions.

Methods. The theoretical analysis of scientific literature in Ukrainian professional journals and international journals was used to define the concept of an integral approach and study its effectiveness and possible impact on students.

Results. The concept of an integral approach to learning a foreign language is defined. It is determined that using this approach increases students' motivation and the educational process's effectiveness. The ratio of educational materials in this approach is highlighted, and practical recommendations for the practical use of this method are formulated.

Conclusions. An integral approach to teaching a foreign language in a professional direction is an interconnected and complementary combination of a foreign language and a corresponding subject to better master a foreign language and professional vocabulary by students the ability to use it in various professional situations. The proportions of materials in an integral approach should be 70% (professional educational materials) and 30% (linguistic). Using an integrated approach to teaching a foreign language for professional purposes is an effective way to obtain and improve the necessary and important competencies. The student improves the foreign language and acquires the necessary professional skills.
