Abstract

This article theoretically analyzes the development of academic integrity of higher education institutions and substantiates the importance of forming an academically perfect, reliable environment with high educational and scientific moral and ethical principles.

Objective. The purpose of the article is to carry out a thorough theoretical analysis of the problem of development of academic integrity among modern Ukrainian students of higher educational institutions.

Methods of theoretical research included the analysis of scientific sources, synthesis, as well as abstraction, induction and deduction.

Results. According to the first task, the authors found that academic integrity is a set of ethical principles and the norms defined by Ukrainian legislation, which provide for the avoidance of any forms of academic dishonesty within the educational process. According to the second task, it was determined that the problem of academic integrity is currently one of the significant places in the development of education and science of Ukraine, emerging not only as moral and ethical obligations, but also as a rigid and inviolable legal requirement, which leads to legal liability. And according to the third task, the authors identified a number of problems and prospects for the problem of development of academic integrity of modern Ukrainian students of higher educational institutions, which lie in the field of control of educational and scientific activity, motivational sphere, features of the modern educational environment and educational tasks that are produced in it.

Conclusions. Academic integrity is the basis of academic perfection of higher education and science institutions, which ensures high quality of knowledge and scientific achievements. However, the development of academic integrity in Ukraine requires the development of mechanisms for maintaining moral and ethical standards in connection with existing high motivation to use various forms of poorness in educational and scientific activity. Therefore, the authors define as a prospects of further research the development of effective educational and motivated strategies in compliance with the rules of academic integrity.
