The article discusses modern approaches to motivating active tourism and its importance for the development of physical education among students of secondary schools. To date, the scientific literature recognizes tourism motivation as an important component of this industry, and the topic itself is studied as one of the main ones. However, despite the general recognition of the importance of the motivational component, scientific works do not pay attention to a deeper study of the relationship between motives and factors that contribute to the popularization of active tourism among students. Also, existing classifications of motives do not take into account the specifics of active tourism and its interaction with the natural environment. The article proposes a methodology for structuring motives based on the principles of activity and interaction with almost unchanged nature, which allows to increase the effectiveness of involving students in sustainable active tourism.
The article structures the main motives for participating in active tourism, including: diversification (change of situation and environment, learning new things), recovery (physical and psychological recovery), fulfillment (physical pleasure, pleasure from interaction with nature, intellectual entertainment), development (physical development, learning, psychological and worldview changes) and realization (competition with oneself and others, increasing self-esteem). The uniqueness of active tourism lies in the fact that its main motive is interaction with nature, which retains its value only in the context of active tourism. Despite this, the importance of this motive often remains insufficiently realized among students and is not considered in the educational process.
