Abstract

The article reveals the essence of students' independent work as a pedagogical problem and defines the main principles of its organization for cadets of the Kyiv Institute of the National Guard of Ukraine. It is established that scientists define independent work differently (autonomous activity of students, which is carried out under the guidance of a teacher, but has broad autonomy in the implementation of educational tasks or projects; a type of activity carried out by one or more students in accordance with the task set by the teacher, but in the absence of their direct involvement; a special form of learning, during which the process of acquiring knowledge, skills and abilities is implemented through the mental and physical actions of students). At the same time, scientists agree that independent work can be effective only if certain principles are observed. Based on the generalization of scientific literature, the main principles of organizing students' independent work are summarized and exemplary tasks for cadets are provided. It is found that the principle of activity is manifested through the dynamic interaction of students during the performance of educational tasks. In the process of mastering the English language, this can be manifested in the improvement of students' oral skills, as well as in the ability to clearly and reasonably defend their own position. The principle of a personal approach is aimed at taking into account the personal educational trajectory of each student and involves organizing classes taking into account the students' language preparation, their professional orientation and the pace of learning the material. In addition, this approach allows cadets to focus on those topics that require more attention. The principle of accessibility and task definition is manifested in the fact that the content of the tasks should correspond to the language level of the cadets and be clearly formulated. The principle of visualization is focused on the visual presentation of information, which contributes to more effective mastering of language material. The principle of structure and logic provides for a systematic approach to mastering the English language, which ensures a gradual and logically justified expansion of language material. The principle of relevance to reality guarantees a practical orientation of educational tasks that reflect situations that students may encounter in everyday life and the professional sphere. The principle of awareness and initiative is implemented through the responsible attitude of cadets to learning, because this is what contributes to the formation of a solid system of knowledge. The article also outlines the functionality of the Moodle educational platform for organizing independent work of cadets.
