The study is aimed at getting acquainted with the theoretical aspects of scientific research activity of higher education students and its practical implementation in the educational process and outside of it. The purpose of the article is to investigate the components of the scientific and research activities of higher education students that form their professional competence. The research methodology is based on the principles of scientific, objectivity, and comprehensiveness. The author used logical and systemic-structural methods of scientific knowledge, as well as analysis and synthesis. Scientific novelty of the research. Based on the analysis of theoretical aspects of student research work, an attempt was made to comprehensively characterize and systematize information regarding its organization in a higher educational institution. In the process of work, the author concluded that, along with the theoretical understanding of the concept of "students' scientific and research activity", the interpretation of its implementation in professional activity is important. The organization of this type of activity of the student as a subject of the educational process contributes to the expansion of his worldview, provides knowledge of the theory and methodology of scientific research. The future specialist must be able to implement their scientific knowledge and practical skills, acquired during the implementation of scientific projects in a higher educational institution, in professional activities. That is why it is important to teach students the basic aspects of scientific and research activities for their future professional development.
