Ivan Yushchuk: Armed with Love for Ukraine

Abstract

The article emphasizes the importance of turning to the spiritual heritage of teachers and educators in order to find effective strategies for educating a new generation of people. In the context of this topical issue, the views of the outstanding linguist, literary critic, translator of the works of Serbian, Croatian, Lusatian and Slovenian writers, professor, author of more than thirty textbooks and thirty teaching aids on the Ukrainian language I.P. Yushchuk regarding the role of the Ukrainian language in the development of our state Based on the coverage of his views, recommendations were formulated that will make it possible to strengthen the status of the state language in Ukrainian society. It is emphasized that the research was conducted on the basis of interview materials and online publications of I. Yushchuk. It is noted that the recommendations are formulated on the basis of the teacher's personal thoughts.

It was emphasized that language is not just a means of communication, but also an important tool in forming national identity, protecting the state and ensuring its indivisibility.

The concept of nationalism and chauvinism is highlighted, it is stated that these are terms with completely different meanings. The reasons for the marginalization of the Ukrainian language are indicated. The importance of implementing a unified language regime in schools and creating conditions that would promote the establishment of the Ukrainian language in all spheres of public life was emphasized. It is emphasized that improper use of the russian language in educational institutions is a crime and sabotage against the people of Ukraine. It is noted that the education of the younger generation should be carried out through the prism of pride for one's country and its language. Attention is focused on the expediency of changing the negative connotation of the terms "nationalism", "nationalist" due to their essence and popularization of their understanding in society.

The role of the press in language education is clearly outlined. Ways of balancing language education of national minorities in Ukraine are highlighted. Attention is focused on the importance of clearly observing international parity, which provides for equal rights and opportunities to use one's language. It is emphasized that such parity is often violated, and as a result, there is a negative impact on the development of national communities and their rights.
