Modern computer technologies in the development of foreign language learning and teaching tools

The article is devoted to the consideration of the problem of designing modern tools for learning and teaching foreign languages with the help of innovative computer technologies. In particular, its purpose is to characterize computer software and Internet services for the development of electronic means of learning and teaching foreign languages and to determine their functional features. In order to achieve this objective such theoretical research methods as analysis, interpretation, generalization of scientific literature on the problems of developing effective means of learning and teaching foreign languages, as well as description and classification of modern computer programs and online tools for their compilation have been used.
As a result of the study, the essence of the electronic means of learning and teaching a foreign language as a kind of software system that consistently presents theoretical material, training exercises, control tasks, etc. with computer visualization and audio accompaniment has been considered The main features of a modern electronic tool for foreign language learning and teaching have been identified, including a hypertext structure, multimedia content, interactive nature of its use, etc. The main types of programs for compiling electronic foreign language learning and teaching tools have been characterized, namely, compiler programs (eBook Maestro, eBooks Writer, eВook Сompiler), editor programs (SunRav BookEditor, Adobe Indesign, iBooks Author) and online resources (Bookemon, Flip Snack, Simple Booklet). As a result, the key functional capabilities of the considered programs in the process of preparing modern electronic foreign language learning and teaching tools have been determined, such as: integrating of various types of information, importing different files types and their formatting, managing interface parameters, editing templates, automatic hypertext structuring of material, setting access parameters and protection.
