Ivan Yushchuk's views on the hierarchical structure of the Ukrainian language course at school

Abstract

The article highlights the views of the outstanding linguist and teacher I. Yushchuk on the hierarchical structure of the Ukrainian language course at school. The tasks of the Ukrainian language school course and directions for their implementation are indicated. The programs for secondary comprehensive schools for grades 5-11, developed by I. Yushchuk, are analyzed in detail. The peculiarities of studying the Ukrainian language within each year of study are briefly described.

It is emphasized that the linguist had his own vision for teaching the propaedeutic course of the Ukrainian language. The author's sequence of studying linguistic sections in the fifth grade is highlighted.

The peculiarities of studying the Ukrainian language in the sixth grade are outlined and analyzed in detail. It is emphasized that the largest number of hours is devoted to morphology and spelling. It has been clarified that the sixth graders actively study the nominal parts of speech and the peculiarities of the spelling of the words that belong to them.

It is noted that the central topic of the Ukrainian language in the seventh grade is the verb and its five forms. It is emphasized that seventh-graders must learn to find verb forms in a sentence correctly, form and use them correctly.

The peculiarities of studying the Ukrainian language in the 8th and 9th grades are highlighted. It is emphasized that during these two years, students study in depth the syntax of simple, simple complex and complex sentences. It is emphasized that the Ukrainian language course in the 10th and 11th grades is focused on the consolidated material studied during the previous years.

It is noted that the tenth-graders repeat the studied material from lexicology and phraseology and practical rhetoric, then - the studied material from orthoepy. At the end of the year, students repeat information on morphology. It is emphasized that the study of the Ukrainian language in the tenth grade ends with the study of the topics of practical rhetoric.

It is emphasized that during the last year of study, students eliminate gaps in knowledge and improve speech culture. They recall information from practical rhetoric, repeat what they learned from morphology, syntax, and punctuation.

It is noted that the basis of the system of linguistic didactic views of the linguist is the psychological features of the student's development. It is emphasized that a key role in the author's structure of the course is played by a systematic approach, a strict logical sequence, constant activation of students' mental activity and instilling in them a high level of self-education.
