Abstract

The specificity of socialization of adolescents is due to the peculiarities of the development of modern society, which are associated with the war in Ukraine, with social, technological transformations, urbanization, polarization of society, increased emotional tension and the development of digitalization. The purpose of the article is to study the methodological experience of forming social competence of adolescents in the US education system. The main research methods are the analysis of scientific sources, general logical methods (comparison, generalization and systematization). Research results. The American education system is focused on the demands of society, as it actively implements projects related to solving social needs. Various social institutions (creative, sports, public, social organizations, etc.) are involved in conducting extracurricular activities. Currently, the current direction of work is the organization of informal learning. The features of the organized formation of social competence are characterized, which combines training in educational institutions aimed at professional orientation and the beginning of a career; combining training with work; volunteering; mentoring and coaching for adaptation to the workplace. The main mechanisms for recognizing the results of informal education are outlined. The means and types of online formation of social competence of adolescents are described. The forms of interaction of the formation of social competence in the online environment are determined. The features of the formation of school corporate culture, support of a positive image of the school are revealed. Conclusions. The USA has accumulated rich experience in forming competencies in modern adolescents, necessary both for successful adaptation to the conditions of the information society and for the formation of a socially active personality. Studying and implementing the best practices of foreign experience in the formation of social competence of education seekers will contribute to the enrichment of Ukrainian pedagogy in the context of reforming modern education.
