Abstract

The article outlines scientific approaches to the study of various aspects of corruption and the fight against it. The role of educational institutions in the formation of a society intolerant to corruption and the establishment of zero tolerance to corruption among participants in the educational process is actualized.

The results of a study on the attitude of the population to corruption in Ukraine are presented, which show the existence of a peculiar socio-psychological phenomenon in Ukrainian society: the desire of Ukrainians to eradicate corruption among high-ranking officials, but tolerating everyday corruption. The author analyzes the reasons for such contradictions by considering the psychological characteristics of corrupt and anti-corruption behavior. The prerequisites for the development of corrupt behavior at the individual level are described: emotional and value, cognitive, and behavioral.

Other psychological reasons that contribute to the development of corrupt behavior have also been identified, namely: the need for comfort, stereotypes, intrapersonal conflicts, and bribery. Taking into account the psychological preconditions of corrupt behavior can become the basis for the formation of zero tolerance to corruption in society in general and educational institutions in particular.

Anti-corruption training materials and courses have been systematized and outlined. Ways to overcome corruption in educational institutions are identified: creating conditions for quality education and ensuring access to education and equality; directing the policy of the educational institution to eradicate tolerance of corruption among teachers, parents and students; forming a corporate culture of the educational institution based on democratic values.
